PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a shock lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
